Quote:Google has announced a major change to how it updates Google Chrome. Starting in September 2026, the browser will move to a two-week release cycle, significantly increasing how often new versions are delivered.

The change continues Google’s push toward faster updates and a more continuous rollout of features and security fixes.

Google Chrome Updates Will Arrive Every 14 Days

The new schedule begins with Chrome 153, which is expected to launch on September 8, 2026.

Once the transition happens, new Chrome milestone releases will arrive every two weeks instead of the current four-week cadence introduced in 2021. The change applies across all major platforms, including desktop, Android, and iOS.

Google says the faster release cycle will allow improvements and security fixes to reach users much sooner.

Why Google Is Speeding Up Chrome Updates?

According to Google, the move is designed to improve the browser as the web evolves more rapidly.

Security threats, browser features, and AI capabilities are changing quickly, and shorter release cycles make it easier to ship updates without waiting weeks for the next major version.

Google also notes that more frequent releases will likely contain smaller, more focused changes, which should reduce disruption and make debugging easier when issues occur.
