Some Android users are able to set reminders right from notifications

Quote:Google has been improving notifications on Android over the last few releases by bringing features such as suggested replies and smart actions right from notifications, and more. Now, Android Police reports that some Pixel users are able to also set reminders right from their notifications, based on the content in the message. However, interestingly, the ability works for some third-party messaging services such as WhatsApp, and not for Messages or Google’s own services.

When a message contains words such as “don’t forget” or “please Xyz…”, a ‘Set Reminder’ bubble appears next to the smart actions, letting users create reminders in either Google Keep or Tasks. When users have Tasks installed, the UI offers a choice between the two apps. On Keep, the title is filled automatically from the notification’s content, with a prompt served to choose the time and date for the reminder.

On Tasks, the app creates an automatic task with the subject from the message. However, if you want to add more information, you will have to edit the task. Additionally, the Tasks entry does not sync with Google's Assistant or the Google Calendar.

This reminder then syncs with the Assistant and can also be found in the Calendar. Those who wish to disable the reminder suggestions can supposedly do so by turning off the ‘Suggested actions and replies’ or the ‘Adaptive Notifications’ from the notification settings.
