Microsoft PowerToys 0.99 Adds Grab and Move Window Dragging and Power Display Monitor

Microsoft has released PowerToys 0.99, introducing two new utilities and refining several existing tools. The update is now available through the app's built-in updater or via the official GitHub releases page.

Grab and Move Window Controls

The Grab and Move utility removes the need to target a window's title bar or edges to move or resize it. By holding Alt and left-clicking anywhere on a window, you can drag it from that spot. Holding Alt and right-clicking allows you to resize the window from the point where the cursor is placed.

This feature addresses common issues, especially on large monitors where title bars can be far from the cursor, or on windows that have partially moved off-screen and cannot be easily grabbed by their edges.

Power Display Monitor Controls

Power Display introduces a system tray utility that lets users adjust monitor settings without relying on physical buttons on the display itself. The available options depend on the monitor's capabilities but typically include brightness, contrast, volume, and color profile.

Users can save multiple configurations as named profiles and quickly switch between them with a single click. This makes it easy to adapt the display setup for different lighting conditions, such as a bright daytime profile or a dimmer evening setting.
