QOwnNotes v25.7.7
QOwnNotes is the open source notepad with Markdown support and todo list manager for GNU/Linux, macOS and Windows, that works together with Nextcloud Notes and ownCloud Notes. You are able to write down your thoughts with QOwnNotes and edit or search for them later from your mobile device, like with Nextcloud Notes for Android or the Nextcloud / ownCloud web-service. The notes are stored as plain text markdown files and are synced with Nextcloud's/ownCloud's file sync functionality. Of course other software, like Syncthing or Dropbox can be used too. If you like the concept of having notes accessible in plain text files, like it is done in the Nextcloud / ownCloud notes apps to gain a maximum of freedom then QOwnNotes is for you.
Features
- You can use your existing text or markdown files, no need for an import
- QOwnNotes is written in C++ and optimized for low resource consumption (no CPU and memory-hungry Electron app)
- Evernote and Joplin import
- Compatible with the Notes (opens new window)application of Nextcloud / ownCloud and mobile and Nextcloud Text
- Create Nextcloud Deck (opens new window)cards and link to them in your notes
- Support for sharing notes on your ownCloud / Nextcloud server

- External changes of note files are watched (notes or note list are reloaded)
- Support for hierarchical note tagging and note subfolders
- Optional encryption of notes, AES-256 is built in, or you can use custom encryption methods like Keybase.io (opens new window)(encryption-keybase.qml (opens new window)) or PGP (encryption-pgp.qml (opens new window))
- The notes folder can be freely chosen (multiple note folders can be used)
- Searching parts of words in notes is possible and search results are highlighted in the notes
- Browser extension to add notes from the selected text, make screenshots or manage your bookmarks
- Spellchecking support
- Portable mode for carrying QOwnNotes around on USB sticks
- Scripting support and an online script repository (opens new window)where you can install scripts inside the application

Quote:What's New in QOwnNotes v25.7.7
- Fixed a possible crash when locally diffing notes with enabled libgit2 support (for #3296 (opens new window))
- In the Interface settings, there now is a setting to override the interface scale factor if you have scaling issues (for #3324 (opens new window))
- Keep in mind that if you are disabling this setting and had it previously enabled, you need to restart the application manually so the previous environment variable that overrides the scale factor is not in your environment again
- Added more Spanish, Finnish, Korean, French translation (thank you, alejandromoc, samlehtonen, venusgirl, jd-develop)

- After a huge amount of work over many weeks, there now is a universal binary for macOS, built with Qt6 that works natively on Intel and Apple Silicon Macs (for #2912 (opens new window))
- A big thank you to everyone involved
- The universal binary is available in the releases on GitHub (opens new window)as
and is replacing the previous Intel Qt5 build
- You need at least macOS 13 (Ventura) to run the new universal binary, the Qt5 legacy version will still be available as
- A known issue with Qt6 on Intel Macs is that the application might crash on exit when the logging panel was turned on
- Please visit the macOS installation page (opens new window)for more information
- An issue with storing settings in the settings dialog would overwrite the toolbar settings in some circumstances was fixed (for #3318 (opens new window))
- Added more Spanish, Thai, Korean translation (thank you, alejandromoc, tony.chompoo, venusgirl)
