We return to the DLSS Transformer update from a few days ago. NVIDIA has released a new SDK (Software Development Kit) that includes updated DLSS libraries for upscaling, ray reconstruction, and DLAA technologies. The most important information is that the Transformer model, which replaces the older CNN-based DLSS models, is finally out of beta.
With this release, NVIDIA also introduced VRAM usage optimizations. Specifically, the new version requires less memory. While this was only briefly mentioned in the official changelog, the updated DLSS Programming Guide provides more details on these changes.
For Transformer models, the 310.3.0 SDK now uses 87.77 MB at 1080p resolution, which is 19.8% less than the previous version. This VRAM reduction also applies to other resolutions, including 1440p, 4K, and 8K. On average, memory requirements are around 20% lower.
