This release outlines the changes included in Sophos Home for Windows version 2025.2 which will roll out from April 27, 2026 through May 21, 2026.
This update is available for Windows 10 (64-bit) and above, and will be applied automatically.
Fixes / Improvements- Updated the HomeUI branding (new colors and logo)
- Removed the HomeUI adapter
- Removed in-app browser
- Fixed an issue where local exclusions could not be added correctly when the excluded file or folder was on a different drive or partition.
- Fixed an issue where some applications could fail when using loopback or localhost connections (for example, after installing Windows security update KB5077181).
- Fixed an issue where the Global Search application could fail to connect to localhost (127.0.0.1), returning HTTP 502 errors, unless Real-time Scanning was disabled.
- Fixed an issue where Single Sign-On (SSO) did not launch the Windows Store version of the Firefox browser.
- Fixed an issue where saving Microsoft Excel or Word files to a network share could cause the application to hang.
Security fixes- Fixed an issue where HMPA driver protections could be disabled from a low-integrity process.
- Fixed a privilege escalation issue in the hmpalert service.
- Fixed a Sophos antivirus engine NULL dereference when scanning a malformed OneNote file.
- Fixed a Sophos antivirus engine stack buffer overflow when scanning a malformed MHT file.
- Fixed multiple reflected XSS issues via https://www.mcs.sophos.com
- Fixed crashes in MIME scanning.
- Fixed a SophosNetFilter.exe stack overflow via a DNS compression pointer chain that could lead to persistent denial of service by an unprivileged user.
