AMD HYPR-X will be available next year.

HYPR-X is an upcoming technology coming to AMD Radeon graphics in the first half of 2023. This tech was demoed alongside Radeon RX 7900 series last month, but AMD now has more details on how would this tech work.

The HYPR-X will be a single click performance boost technology combining Radeon Super Resolution, Radeon Boost and Radeon Anti-Lag. All these features are now available through AMD Software and are supported by a wide range of GPUs. The technology will be part of the pre-set profiles available through the Graphics tab in the drivers. This way, user will be able to choose which profile suits them best for individual games.

In short, this one-click solution will reduce system latency (Anti-Lag), enable dynamic resolution scaling (Boost) and use spatial upscaler (RSR). It will definitely not be the best solution for everyone, though. Chances are some games may support FSR 2.0 already, which should provide better image quality. However, RSR which is based on FSR 1.0 algorithm has an advantage of working at driver level, without a need to manually change game settings. In that sense, HYPR-X is a hassle free solution that should work across many games.

AMD is providing some preliminary data featuring HYPR-X in action. In Dying Light 2, the technology boosts framerate from 90 to 166 FPS, representing an 85% uplift. This test was conducted on a Ryzen 9 7900X/DDR5-5200 system, with the game configured to 1080p high preset. The output resolution was 1440p thanks to Hyper-X tech. According to AMD, the latency was reduced from 30 ms to 11 ms.

AMD confirms HYPR-X will be available in the first half of 2023 without clarifying when exactly. One should expect this tech to work with all modern Radeon GPUs, including mobile solutions.
