Kali Linux 2026.2 Released With 9 New Tools, GNOME 50, and Kernel 6.19

Offensive Security has announced the release of Kali Linux 2026.2, the second update for this year of their security-focused Linux distribution. The new version introduces nine additional tools, updates to the NetHunter Android platform, and brings new versions of the desktop environments GNOME 50 and KDE Plasma 6.6.

It also includes the latest kernel, version 6.19. Users running Kali in a virtual machine can expect much faster boot times thanks to changes in how graphics firmware is managed.

The distribution is aimed at cybersecurity professionals and ethical hackers, providing tools for penetration testing, security audits, and network research.

New Tools In Kali Linux 2026.2

Kali Linux 2026.2 adds nine new tools to its network repositories. These include:

• arsenal-ng, a Go-based command library with over 200 cybersecurity cheat sheets;
  
• hydra-gtk, a reintroduced GTK+ graphical interface for the network logon cracker;
  
• legba, a multiprotocol credentials bruteforcer, password sprayer, and enumerator;
  
• oletools, an analyzer for MS OLE2 files and Microsoft Office documents;
  
• penelope, a shell handler;
  
• shell-gpt, an AI-powered command-line productivity tool;
  
• tailscale, a platform for secure networking;
  
• tookie-osint, a tool for gathering open-source intelligence to find social media accounts; and
  
• uro, a URL decluttering tool designed for crawling and penetration testing. The Kali team also updated its service helper scripts to improve service management. These updates include functions for checking service status, listing default credentials, and retrieving access information for active services.
