AMD has confirmed that the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition will launch on April 22. The date was shared by Jack Huynh, SVP and GM of Computing and Graphics at AMD, alongside details on the new processor. This marks the first desktop CPU with dual 3D V-Cache in the Ryzen lineup.
The new processor is based on Zen 5 and features 16 cores and 32 threads on the AM5 platform. AMD states the chip offers 208MB of total on-chip cache, which is higher than any previous Ryzen desktop CPU.
AMD has confirmed the 9950X3D2 has a 5.6 GHz boost clock as well as 200W TDP, the highest of all AM5 processors to date. The CPU has new monochrome packaging and Dual Edition branding.
AMD is positioning the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 beyond gaming. Internal data compares the new model against the Ryzen 9 9950X3D in workstation-style workloads. The company lists gains of up to 7% in rendering benchmarks such as V-Ray and Blender, around 5% to 7% in content creation tools, and up to 13% in SPEC Workstation data science tests.
