Gamers with Radeon hardware and using beta drivers with AMD’s AFMF (AMD Fluid Motion Frames) technology can now consider upgrading to the latest version, 23.30.13.05. This version, is based and integrated all optimizations from the official WHQL 23.12.1 release.

As we’re aware, the progress on enabling AMD FSR3 in games has been rather sluggish. Despite the RDNA3 architecture’s launch nearly a year ago (December 13th, 2022), this temporal upscaling tech is only available in three games at this moment. The formal introduction of 3rd Gen FSR technology happened in September, initially, with Immortals of Aveum and Forspoken games being the first adopters. Avatar Frontiers of Pandora has now joined the FSR3 lineup nearly two months later.

One of the key components of FSR3’s technology suite is the Frame Generation technology known as AMF Fluid Motion Frames, which AMD opted to separate from this package. Instead of relying on game developers to implement FSR3, AMD chose to enable AFMF at the driver level. This empowers gamers to decide where they want to leverage this technology, without a need for developer work.

Given that AFMF is a work in progress, AMD is rolling out dedicated drivers for this technology. The latest release, the fourth in the series, arrives approximately a month after the previous update. It brings enhancements to address stuttering and frame pacing issues.
Once AFMF is ready for broader adoption, it will become part of the HYPR-RX technology stack available in AMD drivers. Gamers will no longer have to enable AFMF for each game, but may choose to enable a set of features that should include Anti-Lag and Radeon Super Resolution as well.

The AFMF technology works on Radeon RX 7000 and RX 6000 graphics cads for all DirectX 12 and DirectX 11 games.
