Chrome 79: Google is testing new features in beta

Google gives its browser regularly fresh features and improvements. Now the beta update for Chrome 79 has been released. The group offers a whole bunch of new features

Chrome 79: Google makes computers faster

Chrome 79 should include frozen tabs ("tab freezing"). If you do not use the tab for more than five minutes, Chrome 79 will freeze it. Only a click on the tab activates it again. Sense of the thing: The frozen Tabs accelerate the work of the processor and are on top of that to spare the battery. Tabs with audio and video content are not affected. According to Google, this feature is planned for all desktop operating systems and should be activated via the configuration page "chrome: // flags".

Chrome 79: DNS over HTTPS (DoH)

With the release of Chrome 78, Google also wanted to start implementing and testing the DNS over HTTPS (DoH) protocol in its browser. Due to technical difficulties, however , the manufacturer postponed the project to Chrome 79. Thus, Google uses in his browser a similar encryption technology as various VPN providers. This prevents user tracking and malicious redirects. So it brings much more security.
