Latest Windows 10 Cumulative Updates Break Down Event Viewer
#1
Quote:The June 2019 cumulative updates released by Microsoft on this month’s Patch Tuesday breaks down Event Viewer, the company has recently acknowledged.

According to the software giant, once these latest updates are installed on Windows 10, certain features of the Event View might no longer work.

“When trying to expand, view or create Custom Views in Event Viewer, you may receive the error, "MMC has detected an error in a snap-in and will unload it." and the app may stop responding or close. You may also receive the error using Filter Current Log in the Action menu with built-in views or logs. Built-in views and other features of Event Viewer should work as expected,” the company explains.

The bug exists in both old and new versions of Windows, so it can also be encountered on Windows 7 and 8.1 after installing the monthly rollups published on June 11.

Microsoft explains that a workaround already exists, and users can create a PowerShell script to resolve it. However, a full fix is currently in the works, and Microsoft promises to include it in a full update rolling out sometime in the coming weeks.
