To combat this, most antivirus and internet security solutions include built-in anti-phishing features designed to block access to malicious sites.
AV-Comparatives, a trusted independent testing lab based in Austria, has released its 2026 Anti-Phishing Certification Report, assessing the ability of leading security products to detect and block phishing websites.
In this year’s test, the security products were challenged with 275 phishing URLs. To earn certification, a product had to block at least 85% of phishing sites. A false-positive test was also conducted to ensure that legitimate websites—especially sensitive ones like online banking—were not mistakenly blocked.
