Last September, AMD officially introduced a mid-range gaming CPU that was still part of the Zen4 family. This was despite the fact that Zen5 CPUs had already been announced, but at the time, there was no mention of a 3D V-Cache variant. Eventually, those were released too, but AMD has yet to introduce a successor to the Ryzen 5 9600X3D processor, despite some claims that such a SKU is coming.

Officially, the 7600X3D remains exclusive to a few retailers. At launch, only MicroCenter in the US and Mindfactory in Germany were officially distributing these SKUs, which heavily limited access. Over time, availability has expanded to other platforms, but it is still nowhere near as widespread as other CPUs.

The good news is that this might change soon, as some European retailers have now listed the Ryzen 5 7600X 3D (the actual name listed) at their stores. None of the listings include photos, but they reveal one thing: apparently, these new SKUs have a new OPN (AMD Product Code), which suggests that this might not be the same CPU that launched last year.
