Announcement
  • Collections retirement. Microsoft will begin retiring Collections. A banner will be shown to existing Collections users, and users will no longer be able to add new items to Collections. To keep saved content, users can export it or move all pages to Favorites. For more information, see Organize your ideas with Collections in Microsoft Edge.
  • Microsoft Edge supported operating systems for macOS. Edge version 150 is currently planned to be the last release that supports macOS 12 (Monterey). Under this plan, Edge version 151 or later will require macOS 13 (Ventura) or later.
  • Migration to improved V2 architecture for Workspaces. Workspaces, introduced in Edge in 2022, allows users to create durable sets of tabs that can be saved and shared with others. To improve reliability and performance of this feature, the following changes are being made:
    • Migrating data for saved Workspaces from OneDrive/SharePoint to the Edge Sync service.
    • Removing the collaboration/share functionality of this feature.
    • For organizations who have disabled Sync through policy, the existing v1 Workspace data will still be migrated to the new architecture. New v2 Workspaces created after migration will not sync across devices and will remain local to each device. This update began rolling out in Edge Stable version 145 and continues rolling out in Edge Stable version 146. For more information, see Getting started with Microsoft Edge Workspaces.
  • Custom primary password deprecation. In Microsoft Edge 146, users will no longer be able to create a new custom primary password in Edge Settings (
    Code:
    edge://settings/autofill/passwords/settings
). Users who already have a custom primary password configured will see a warning that the feature will not be available starting June 4, 2026. On June 4, 2026, users still using a custom primary password will automatically be migrated to device authentication.

Fixes
  • Fixed an issue on Windows that could cause tabs to be discarded unexpectedly on high-memory devices.

Feature Updates
  • Third-party storage partitioning policy updates. The ThirdPartyStoragePartitioningBlockedForOrigins and DefaultThirdPartyStoragePartitioningSetting policies were deprecated in Microsoft Edge version 140 and are now obsolete. They no longer function after Microsoft Edge version 145. The replacement for these policies is usage of the
    Code:
    requestStorageAccess
method. For more information, see requestStorageAccess() method - Web APIs.
  • New Local Network Access policies. With Microsoft Edge 146 Stable, the following policies are available to mitigate scenarios where Local Network Access restrictions affect cross-origin iframes:
  • Enterprise New Tab Page experience. Microsoft Edge for Business introduces a modern experience for the New Tab Page (NTP).
Note: This is a controlled feature rollout. If you don't see this feature, check back as we continue the rollout.

  • Copilot New Tab Page. Search, chat, and explore the web from one search box with Copilot-suggested actions and curated work content to help users get things done faster on the refreshed Copilot New Tab Page.
Note: This experience is in public preview and can be enabled via the Edge management service in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center. General availability is expected in early April. For more information, see Configuring Copilot Mode.

  • Desktop Visual Search. Users can quickly send images to Bing Visual Search from the Edge Desktop Search Bar to identify images, people, animals, and shows; extract, copy, and translate text while preserving formatting. This feature can also help discover products, recipes, locations, and more.
This feature is available on Windows devices. Admins can control availability using the VisualSearchEnabled policy.

  • Tracking prevention when browsing InPrivate. Microsoft Edge is unifying the tracking prevention experience between standard browsing and InPrivate windows. The toggle allowing users to select Strict tracking prevention specifically for InPrivate browsing will be removed.
    Previously available in

    Code:
    edge://settings/privacy/trackingPrevention
and the InPrivate New Tab Page, this toggle will no longer appear. InPrivate browsing will now use the same tracking prevention setting as normal browsing windows.
Note: This is a controlled feature rollout.

  • Improvements to site permissions user interfaces. Site permissions have been redesigned to better align with user expectations. Improvements include changes to the Omnibox and Page Info dialog, and permissions are easier to review and modify in Settings.
Note: This is a controlled feature rollout. If you don't see this feature, check back as we continue our rollout.

  • Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat support for multiple open tabs. Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat in Edge will soon be able to answer contextual questions about a user's open window. This extends the existing capability which can only access the open page. All existing user settings and policies and DLP considerations will continue to be respected.
Note: This is a controlled feature rollout. If you don't see this feature, check back as we continue our rollout

  • Ground Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat in Edge for Business in your open YouTube videos. Get relevant answers and insights about your open YouTube videos in Copilot Chat in Edge.
Note: This is a controlled feature rollout. If you don't see this feature, check back as we continue our rollout.

  • Removal of “Passwords” from Clear Browsing Data. Microsoft Edge is simplifying the Clear browsing data experience
    Code:
    edge://settings/privacy/clearBrowsingData
by removing the Passwords from the list of data types that can be cleared. This update addresses feedback that users were unintentionally deleting their saved passwords when clearing their browsing history, leading to confusion and sign‑in issues. Users can continue to manage, edit, or delete passwords directly from
    Code:
    edge://settings/autofill/passwords
    .
  • Private IP. Private IP expands the capabilities of Edge Secure Network. Edge Secure Network functions as a VPN that helps users securely connect to the internet.
Trackers embedded in websites often monitor browsing activity and infer location from IP addresses. Private IP uses Tracking Prevention block lists to reroute known trackers through Secure Network, helping obscure the user's IP address.
Edge Secure Network is not currently available for managed devices.
Note: This is a controlled feature rollout. If you don't see this feature, check back as we continue our rollout.
