AMD has released a follow-up statement addressing confusion surrounding its latest Adrenalin Edition 25.10.2 driver. The company now confirms that Radeon RX 5000 (RDNA1) and RX 6000 (RDNA2) GPUs will continue to receive game optimizations, bug fixes, and security updates, despite earlier reports suggesting otherwise.
The clarification comes after a series of mixed messages. Initially, AMD described the older RDNA architectures as entering “maintenance mode,” with new optimizations focusing on the RDNA3 and RDNA4 lines. That statement led many to assume that cards like the RX 6800 XT or RX 5700 XT would stop receiving day-one game support.
In its new blog post titled “Continued Support for Every Radeon Gamer,” AMD explains that two dedicated driver paths now exist, one for RDNA1/2 and another for RDNA3/4. The company says this separation allows engineers to “move faster with new features for RDNA3 and RDNA4” while maintaining stability for older GPUs.
AMD mentioned that RDNA1 and RDNA2 owners will still get support for new releases, stability updates, and security patches. The only difference is that these cards now operate under a “dedicated, stable driver branch” built on years of optimization.
