IBM Security, Packet Clearing House (PCH) and the Global Cyber Alliance (GCA) have launched a free service designed to provide consumers and businesses with increased privacy and protection when accessing the Internet. The new DNS (Domain Name System) QUAD9 protects users from access to millions of malicious sites known to steal personal information, infect users of rançongiciels and malware or conduct fraudulent activities.
Enterprises and consumers can protect their privacy on the Internet, because the Quad9 DNS (9.9.9.9) service is not designed to store, correlate or use any personal information (PII) of its users. In contrast, other DNS services often record information about websites that are visited by consumers, the devices they use, and where they live for marketing or for other purposes.
Quad9 is a free security solution that uses DNS to protect your systems from the most common cyber threats.

To take advantage of Quad9's security and privacy, users simply need to reconfigure one parameter on their devices to use 9.9.9.9 as their DNS server.

The protections provided by Quad9 not only cover traditional PCs and laptops, but can also be extended to devices connected to the Internet or IoT technologies, such as smart thermostats and connected home devices. These devices often do not receive important security updates, and they are also difficult to protect with traditional anti-virus tools while remaining connected to the Internet, making them vulnerable to hackers.

How Quad9 Works
Quad9 uses intelligent protection against security threats designed to provide users with "automatic immunity" to known Internet threats by automatically blocking access to known malicious websites.

Whenever a Quad9 user clicks a link to a website or enters an address into a web browser, Quad9 checks the site based on the IBM X-Force threat database, which contains more than 40 billion analyzed web pages. The service also uses the channels of 18 other threat intelligence partners, including Abuse.ch, the Anti-Phishing Working Group, Bambenek Consulting, F-Secure, Mnemonics, 360Netlab, Hybrid Analysis GmbH, Proofpoint, RiskIQ and ThreatSTOP.

Quad9 provides these protections without sacrificing the speed that users expect when they access websites and services. Based on the experience and strengths of PCH around the world, Quad9 has presence points in more than 70 locations in 40 countries at launch. It is expected that over the next 18 months the Quad9 sites will double, which will further increase speed, performance, privacy and security for users around the world.

Protection against attacks by blocking them through DNS was available for a long time, but was not widely used. Complex companies can subscribe to dozens of threatening flows and block them through DNS or pay a commercial provider for the service. Nevertheless, small and medium enterprises and consumers are left behind because they lack resources, I do not know what can be done with the DNS or are concerned about the disclosure of their confidentiality and their confidential information, "he said. Philippe Ranker. Global cyber alliance. "Quad9 solves these problems. It is unforgettable, easy to use, relies on excellent and extensive information on threats, protects privacy and security and is free. "
