AMD is hinting that FSR 4 might still get an official open-source release. During a CES Q&A, Andrej Zdravković said AMD wants to “work as openly as possible,” and when pressed on specifics, added “that’s the long-term plan,” while also repeating that “open sourcing is in [AMD’s heart and mind]”.

This comes after AMD’s FSR 4 code briefly appeared online in August 2025 as part of an updated FidelityFX SDK drop on GitHub. AMD later confirmed it was a mistake, saying it was an error and the company has already removed these files (note it took many days).

The MIT license grants broad rights to “use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and/or sell copies” as long as the copyright and license notice stay attached.  If someone pulled the repo while it was up under MIT terms, taking it down later does not automatically erase the rights already granted for that copy.

That is why the leak is hard to “put back” in the practical sense.
