Yesterday AMD announced a range of new CPUs, most of which target the AM5 socket (9000F, 7400F and EPYC 4005E). Even the aging AM4 platform received an update with the Ryzen 5 5600F. What went unnoticed at first is that AMD also refreshed its Ryzen Pro lineup, which quietly appeared on its website the same day.

The Ryzen Pro series is aimed at workstations, business PCs, and enterprise systems. These chips are not marketed for gaming, though they share the same architecture and many of the same specifications as their consumer counterparts. The flagship of the new lineup, the Ryzen 9 Pro 9945, tops out at 12 cores rather than 16. All three models officially boost up to 5.4 GHz and are rated for a 65W TDP.

Ryzen Pro 9000 unveiled with three models
  • Ryzen 9 Pro 9945 — 12 cores, 24 threads, base clock of 3.4 GHz, boost up to 5.4 GHz
  • Ryzen 7 Pro 9745 — 8 cores, 16 threads, base clock of 3.8 GHz, boost up to 5.4 GHz
  • Ryzen 5 Pro 9645 — 6 cores, 12 threads, base clock of 3.9 GHz, boost up to 5.4 GHz
